Recently, I embarked on a memorable road trip from Wyra, Khammam to the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It was a long but fulfilling journey of over 1000 kilometers, and the experience was nothing short of transformative.
The Journey Begins
We started our journey around 9:30 PM and reached Isha Foundation the next day at approximately 4:00 PM. The drive was smooth, filled with changing landscapes, highway stops, and excitement about the destination.
Coimbatore itself is a well-connected city with an international airport, a busy railway station, and numerous manufacturing industries. It’s modern and industrial, yet very close to nature and spirituality.
Arrival at Isha Foundation
Upon reaching the Isha premises, we were guided to the Welcome Point. This is the first checkpoint for all visitors. Here, the voluntaries provided us with:
- Entry passes
- A quick baggage check
- A waterproof wristband, which every guest must wear throughout their stay inside the campus
The entire check-in process was smooth and very well organized.
A Yogic Dinner Experience
Dinner was served at the Biksha Hall – a serene dining area where meals are offered free of cost. The food was simple yet nourishing, prepared in true yogic style. We had:
- Idlis
- Sprouts
- Traditional vegetable curries
The experience of eating together in silence, amidst calm and spiritual surroundings, made it very unique and peaceful.

Adiyogi Laser Show
Post dinner, we headed to the Adiyogi Statue – an iconic 112-feet tall bust of Lord Shiva, located just outside the main Isha campus. We attended the Laser Light and Sound Show, which was absolutely mesmerizing. It beautifully narrated the story of Adiyogi and the origins of yoga.
This is also the venue where Sadhguru organizes the grand Mahashivratri celebration every year – an event that attracts thousands from around the world.

Our Stay at Isha
We spent the night at Isha and booked an AC accommodation for around ₹1700+GST. The rooms were clean, minimal, and comfortable – designed to reflect the essence of simplicity and serenity.
Room Type: Shivapadam 4 Standard
No. of Rooms-2
Room Charges:3640.0
Final Thoughts
Visiting Isha Foundation was more than just a road trip; it was a spiritual retreat. From the beautiful landscapes along the way to the calmness of the foundation, and the energy of the Adiyogi statue – every moment was enriching.
If you’re planning a spiritual getaway or want to experience yogic living, Isha Foundation in Coimbatore is a must-visit.
